This Week at Studios – November 28, 2017

Welcome back to our weekly walk around of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I hope you enjoyed a great Thanksgiving holiday!

You will notice that the wall going up behind the exit of Muppet Vision 3D near the old Phineas and Ferb meet and greet I mentioned earlier this month is now completed. There is a good chance that this will be an actual entrance and exit to Star Wars Galaxy Edge. These larger gates seem to be the new trend with another new gate already located on Grand Avenue.constructionAt Echo Lake, the popular quick service restaurant at the boathouse has switched names from “Min and Bills Dockside Diner” to simply “Dockside Diner”. But don’t worry, the delicious menu of both Carolina and chili-cheese foot long hot dogs, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, specialty cocktails,  frozen lemonade cups and milk shakes  remains the same.constructionIn addition, there are more construction walls going up to the right of the Chinese Theatre, with the extended queue of the former Great Movie Ride now concealed from view.  An encouraging sign of more renovation work in progress to convert this to the new Mickey-themed ride- through attraction, “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway”.construction constructionHeading over to the Brown Derby you will spot a festive red Poinsettia tree in bloom for the holiday season. constructionFor families with small children in strollers headed for Toy Story Midway Mania this holiday season, get ready to carry or walk your child a little longer. Stroller parking for Toy Story attraction is now down the walkway across from Walt Disney Presents.constructionFinally, some construction pictures below of the planet Batuu featured in Star Wars Galaxy Edge. Appears a mountain peak is forming, with the last level of the building is being put into place. I can’t wait for the completion of this immersive land.construction construction Always check out my friends at Once Upon A Time Travel on Facebook.  They are the official travel sponsor of The Disney Nerds Podcast and our local travel experts that turn your “Once Upon A Time” dream vacation into a reality! The Disney Nerds Podcast is brought to you by "Once Upon a Time Travel" your Disney Travel Specialist

Hey Everyone: I have enjoyed going to the Studios faithfully twice a week since 2011. My most memorable experience was camping out in front of the main gate for each of the four Star Wars Weekends in 2015!

Sad to see Min and Bills missing from that marquee. Glad the menu hasn’t changed.
