Season’s Greeting to all Disney Nerds!. Christmas is alive here at Disney Hollywood Studios as we discover what is new throughout the park since the last update.
To begin, that blue construction wall in front of the big gate at the end of Muppet Vision we have been closely watching is now gone. Trees now surround the gate with one perfectly planted in front of the construction of Battu. Can you believe it…a studios favorite is back! The Miss Piggy fountain is now running after a dry spell to facilitate the construction of Battu. Enjoy this old classic on your next visit. While park-wide Christmas decorations have brightened spirits since early November, the ABC Commissary is now in line and decked out in holiday color. The Christmas wreaths aligning the outside are a special touch so make sure to see them at night time. On a different note, Grand Avenue now boasts a music store. Partly visible window signage indicate buy, sell and repair of musical instruments. The lighting structures around this new shop are fully operational. Don’t be surprised if the Grand Avenue will eventually wrap around and travel down to Pixar Place before remodeling in this area is said and done. Are you ready fans? Star Wars Galactic Nights is this Saturday, December 16 and the stage techs are already hard at work. The event should really be exciting with lighting and audio structures on Hollywood Blvd. and around Center Stage. The current seasonal Christmas green color around the various structures should vanish this Saturday and likely be replaced by black and gold décor for this breathtaking event. Hope you have your tickets. Attention Star Wars character fans: The characters now make their way to the main stage with a new route. Instead of going under the archway of the animation courtyard, they take a right and then go up the wheelchair ramp near Walt Disney Presents. Stand at the top of the ramp or at the bottom for a super photo of your favorite characters that are not normally available for meet and greets in the park.
Have a family member aspiring to be a First Order Stormtrooper? Then hurry over to the left side of Center Stage at some time during your park visit. First Order Stormtroopers are positioned here recruiting rookies to join the ranks of the First Order. What a great photo opportunity with the troopers between their roving patrols. Good things take time, including the water level rise in Echo Lake. One month later if you have been counting, the water level is perfect for that new holiday display. The Last Jedi debuts this week and the billboards on the backside of the Chinese Theater aptly promote this exciting motion picture with the teaser posters.Below is a glimpse of the construction crew painting the buildings near the entrance of Toy Story Land. A good sign for the planned grand opening this coming spring 2018! This week “2018 merchandise” is in full swing. Shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, backpacks, galore are available at Mickeys of Hollywood. Just locate the “what’s new this week “showcase of the store. Get those final gifts on your holiday list.
A quick view of the Battu construction reveals a side of a building is now put into place. A lot more structures are forming on the landscape of this lovely planet. Remember that at the end of the evening, Sunset Blvd stays open for around an hour after park closing for everyone’s enjoyment. Catch the beginning of Disney’s Fantasmic thirty minutes after park closing. But for a one on one with no one other than Santa Clause himself, wait until after park closing while everyone rushes to Fantasmic and instead take your family to the Carthay Circle and meet the Jolly Old Man himself. We are done for this week…but do yourself a favor check out my friends at Once Upon A Time Travel.
