New to many is the construction activity in the parking lot this week. Half of the “music” vehicle section is now behind construction walls and off line for guest parking. Crews are replacing street lights with new energy efficient fixtures to brighten the way at a lower cost. Plan of this work to relocate eventually to each parking section for the same lighting fix. Unfortunately, visitor vehicle space will be even more limited during this venture so plan ahead. Also, look closely at the end of the Park’s parking lot facing towards Caribbean Beach and Pop Century Resorts to spot construction progress on the exciting future high flying Gondola Skyway System. Such systems are a hot trend in urban mass transit moving around as many as 4,500 individuals per hour. Disney is about to join the ranks with their own version. Back down on the ground, renovation work continues to move ahead on the new main roadways in and out of the Studios.
Big news from inside the park is the Toy Story Land construction wall edging back a bit more in lieu of the upcoming grand opening. Guests will be relieved to find traffic flow is now easier to and from Toy Story Midway Mania. The photo below of the top of a building roof in this new land reveals even more the unique prevailing tinker toys architectural theme.
Speaking of Toy Story, head on over to Reel Vogue on Sunset Blvd for an abundance of tempting Toy Story merchandise on center display. Coco fans don’t despair, as this merchandise still lingers in the corner shelves. By the way, since the release of this motion picture from Pixar Animation Studios last year around the world, Coco has grossed over $701 million worldwide. Wow! Shopping for studios- specific merchandise, perhaps for that Valentine’s Day sweetheart? Then hike on over with your debit card in hand to The Tower of Terror gift store for a selection of Studios themed polos, sweatshirts and other neat attire. Mickey’s Of Hollywood has merchandise that is featured around Mickey’s gloves as pictured below. For fans that recall the days of Perry the Platypus, well, he has made a return at Movieland which is located outside of the park gates to the left right before the guest relations walk up windows. My, how time flies.
While it is an active flu season for most of the nation, Disney is doing their part to help guests stay healthy. Help yourself to a squirt or two of hand sanitizing solution throughout the day from convenient dispensers available at all fastpass+ locations.
Winding things up for this week’s post…Battu construction activity is rumbling onward this week. New mesh surrounds the top of the construction wall outside of Battu while an earth planet camera on top of Grand Avenue is busy taking a time-lapse recording of the construction for posterity. Check out that worker photographed this week concentrating his skill on a mountain’s landscape . With the main buildings still not completely closed in, contractors need to scurry before the rainy summer months arrive.
May The Force Be With You!
