Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs Review
So I am a self-proclaimed Disney World foodie! Although I have not tried all of the goodness in the world, I have had my fair share! Last week on the live show Morgan said something about Homecomin’ and how she would never eat fried chicken at 50’s Prime Time Café because it paled in comparison to Homecomin’s fried chicken. I thought I really needed to try this place. I’ve heard a bunch of reviews on this place and all of them were great. I made the reservation after the live show for an early Sunday dinner. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I’m going to try to break it down for you, and I hope I inspire a few reservations from all of you!
Chef Art Smith is a Florida native. He grew up in the panhandle. Homecomin’ uses all local ingredients. The waitress was knowledgeable about the menu, Chef Art Smith, even some of the cooking preparations. We started off with the Church Lady Deviled Eggs. All I can say is OMG! One order has 6 deviled eggs. I was nice and shared, but I seriously wanted to punch my husband if he grabbed one.
I’ve been doing the low carb thing for a few months, so I struggled with my selection. I was looking over the salad, and oh my, they sounded amazing. But my eyes kept going back to the fried chicken, then I would look at something else and go back to the fried chicken. I opted instead for the fried chicken sandwich and that came with homemade barbecue chips with some kind of dressing over it. They called it ice box dressing. Talk about blowing my carb intake for the week!!! Yes I did. I ate almost the whole thing. It was amazing.
My husband got the fried chicken plate. I even had a bite of that as well. I’m kicking myself for not getting the fried chicken. Good excuse to go back right? My niece got the HKF Barbecue Bun. She said it had a great spice to it. We sat really close to another couple, and one of them ordered the chicken and doughnuts. I’m not a fan of sweets, but seriously I wanted to reach over and grab a doughnut. I just have to say none of us got the macaroni and cheese, but wow it really looked amazing.
There is so much to choose from on the menu, that I couldn’t try everything in two visits. One thing that I wanted to try but didn’t (don’t ask me why), is the flavored moonshine. I guess that’ll be on the next trip as well. This place could easily become one of my favorite places to eat on property. I know the resounding theme here is I’ll have to try some of the various selections next time. I’m thinking I need to at least go 2 or 3 more times in the near future.
All in all, I would give Homecoming a 5 out of 5. Check out the menu here: Homecomin’ If you try it you will be hooked too! So until next time, happy eating.
