Guy Fieri’s Chicken Guy! is Open at Disney Springs

Hello Disney Nerds! As we know, the transformation of Disney Springs brought a lot of shopping and dining options which were a welcome addition. It seems like there’s always something new coming to Disney Springs. Personally, I always do at least one stopover at Springs during my trips to Disney. This trip gave me the chance to try the newest addition to dining, Chicken Guy!

Chicken Guy is Guy Fieri’s new quick-service chicken located in the same building as Planet Hollywood. It’s on the right side of the Planet Hollywood building facing the Coca-Cola Store. It offers what else but chicken and other delicious sides. Since it’s a quick service, it’s an inexpensive option which is much needed on that side of Disney Springs. If you are in the West Side of Disney Springs, your options are limited in quick service unless you count the food trucks that aren’t always there or Wetzel’s pretzels which isn’t a complete meal (even though we wish they could be sometimes).

When you first walk towards Chicken Guy you notice the red umbrellas shielding the outdoor seating from the sun and you might assume that is the only seating they will have. Well, looks are misleading for this establishment. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door to see some indoor seating which including a bar-style seating against the window. This is great for people dining solo or smaller parties. I was greeted by someone at the door, they handed me a menu and offered to answer any questions. They direct you to the right where you stand in line to place your order. I got there right before the lunch rush, so I luckily beat the line. You place your order with the cashier behind the counter who will also happily help you with any suggestions. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, so you can see all the action as you pay for your meal. I got my drink and found a seat at the bar style seating I mentioned before which I was lucky to find since it was one your standard humid Florida days.

The menu is very simple; chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, salads, and sides. But when you flip the menu over you are greeted by 22 different sauce choices! This was the more difficult choice when I placed my order. How can I choose?!?! This is the not the place if you just want your basic ketchup with your meal (even though they will provide it if asked). I got some chicken tenders, so I was able to choose 2 sauces which was a tougher choice than what to eat. I asked for the Special Sauce after asking the cashier what sauces were the most popular. I also choose the Chipotle Ranch since I personally like ranch. The Special Sauce is mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, and special spices. It was delicious, and I can see why it’s a popular sauce. The other popular sauce that I didn’t get is the Donkey Sauce which consists of mayo, roasted garlic, mustard, worcestershire, and lemon (I’ll get that next time).

But it’s easy to get distracted by the sauces. There’s also the actual food! I got a couple of their basic items to try since this was my first trip. I got the chicken tenders as I mentioned before which is their flagship item. You can get 3 or 5 tenders and choose between fried or grilled. I also got a chicken sandwich, the Big Bit B.L.A.T. which has bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado crema (sauce), and buttermilk ranch. The chicken tenders which are also on the sandwich are perfect. They are not overly breaded or seasoned, they are perfectly balanced. Let’s face it, if the chicken tenders, which is the base of most of their options aren’t good, then a place called Chicken Guy would have no hope.

I also did want to try some sides, so I got fries and fried pickles. I was happy with my choices. Fried pickles are a favorite of mine and they did a great job with these. They are pickles chips and they are not overly breaded like the chicken and are paired with the buttermilk ranch sauce. The fries, in my opinion, are making my top 5 favorite fries on property list. They are not basic fries, they are seasoned with the Chicken Guy secret spices and had the perfect crisp to them (I don’t like soggy fries).

While I was there, I noticed that some cast members and other employees from Disney Springs came in while I was there to grab their lunch. This is a great option for those working at Springs in addition to the guests because the food comes out very quickly, but the quality is not sacrificed in any way. Price wise, everything is under $8.99 which another great feature for a place on Disney property. You can do a combo which is a sandwich or 3 tenders, fries, and a drink for $11.49 but that’s still not a bad price. Right now, there’s no passholder or other discounts since it’s such a new restaurant but hopefully that will change over time.

I was extremely happy with Chicken Guy and have no complaints about their food or establishment. It’s a great addition to Disney Springs and joins an amazing list of wonderful dining establishments there. I can’t wait to go back to try more sauces!

Have you tried Chicken Guy yet? What do you think?
