Disney’s All Star Movies Renovated Rooms!

Hello Disney Nerds! During my last trip to Disney World, I was able to stay at All Star Movies Resort. This resort is going through a renovation. This is the beginning of the room renovations for all three All-Star Resorts and I was happy to have the chance to experience these rooms! I traveled down to Disney World during Labor Day weekend with Jimmy and Charlotte. We were given rooms in the Toy Story section which are preferred rooms in buildings 9 & 10. As of September 2018, both buildings 9 & 10 have been renovated in addition to buildings 7 & 8. These rooms do have a similar redo like what was done over at Pop Century but there are differences.

I got a 2 queen bedroom at All-Star Movies for this trip and when you enter you notice carpet gone like the other renovated rooms. The light wood laminate floors are brought in and the walls are a nice clean white. This gives a nice clean base to the décor of the room. The curtains are a burgundy with muted orange, green, and grey with intersecting lines throughout to give a nice geometric design. The wood of the furniture like the dresser is a darker wood than what is found in Pop and is a warmer tone in my opinion. The dresser is all wood with a white countertop and three drawers and a cabinet that houses the in-room safe. The countertop has 2 sets of plugs and USB ports on either side which is a great feature in all the renovated rooms we’ve seen so far.

What I call the refreshment hub is there as well. It’s the perfect area for your in-room drinks and snacks. It’s a long wooden cabinet in the same dark wood. It has a mini fridge with a see-through door on the bottom and a white counter space. The coffee maker to sit on is found there ready for you to make your morning coffee. There’s a drawer under the counter with supplies for your coffee (coffee, sugar packets, etc.). Then shelving above the coffee maker which had the ice bucket and cups already there. This is a favorite little area of mine since I usually travel with snacks and some drinks. I like having that designated area to store what I brought. Also, the see-through door on the mini fridge is great so you can see what’s in the fridge.

Across from the dresser, there’s a queen size bed with crisp white sheets and 8 pillows. The second bed is not visible when you walk in because it is hidden behind a table and 2 chairs. Behind the table, there’s what looks like a large armoire, but it is, in fact, the queen size murphy bed. Just move the 2 chairs by the table out the way and pull down the bed! I think it a wonderful idea that Disney has incorporated into their renovated rooms. It is a perfect solution for those parties that only need the one bed. Like the other renovated rooms, the mattresses are upgrades from their predecessors which was a big factor in my dislike of value resorts in the past.  Also, the queen bed frame has been raised to accommodate storing luggage which I thought was another great way to utilize space. If you can, I recommend putting the murphy bed up every day. It is a lot easier to maneuver around the room with the murphy bed up.

Above the bed is a light fixture which featuring Minnie, Mickey, and Donald with 2 rectangle shaped lights. When the Murphy bed is down there is a light if needed which illuminates a cute mural of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. In the mural, Donald’s nephews are napping on a couch dreaming. There a comic book style dream bubbles over their heads featuring each little ducks’ dream. If you notice their dreams, there are dreams of sports, movie, and music theme dreams. Could this be what the mural above all the murphy beds in the All-Star resorts will be? There is also a light over the Murphy bed structure and another light on the other wall by the refreshment hub. They are both very bright and I personally did not use them during my stay.

Another added feature is the nightstands. There’s no more than just the one nightstand between the two beds. There are now three square cubby style nightstands in the room. One between the bed and the other two on either side of the beds. Each nightstand also has a set of plugs and USB ports which gives the entire room a lot of places to charge your devices and electronics. I know we’re all happy about that.

But there’s still the bathroom! The bathroom now has a barn style door with a burgundy stripe on the edge of the door in a similar shade to the curtains in the room. The barn door is there to close off the bathroom. This is a huge upgrade from the curtains that used to be there. There’s still a door that separates the sink area from the toilet and shower but it’s now a pocket door which saves a lot of space. The mirror is the same size as before I think but with much better lighting which was wonderful when getting ready in the morning.

The sink area did have a narrower counter but there’s an extra shelf right below the mirror to place things while you’re getting ready. There is also a huge amount of shelving. The entire wall was maximized with cubbies and open shelving. I love the amount of storage in these renovated bathrooms! I can store my bathroom supplies out of the way when I wasn’t using them, so the bathroom didn’t look cluttered and leave out what I needed to use. There was also a cubby area to hang clothes and store more items!

I’m a huge fan of these renovations! As I’ve mentioned before, I was not a fan of value resorts before these renovations but now I can no longer make that claim. I will happily stay at a value resort if my room has these wonderful renovations!
