Disney’s 2019 Movies to Look Out For

As we get comfortable writing 2019 and easing into the new year, it’s time to look ahead to a favorite of the Disney Nerds, the Movies.  Walt Disney Studios has an incredible offering of movies this year, and here are some of the big ones.

March 8

Walt Disney Studios movies Capt MarvelSet in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the (MCU) that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes.  While a galactic war between two alien races reaches earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
The film stars Brie Larson, Samuel Jackson, Jude Law, Clark Gregg and many more.  I’ve been waiting for this since that insane post-scene of Nick Fury calling ‘someone’ before turning to dust.  I’m also expecting a lot of flashbacks, but can’t wait for the set-up for Avengers End Game.

Walt Disney Studios movies dumbo

Unlike the original animated version of Dumbo, it would appear that the protagonist this time around is a human played by Colin Farrell rather than Dumbo himself. The reboot, directed by the visionary storyteller Tim Burton, will also include a number of well-known actors, including  Danny Devito, Eva Green, Alan Arkin, and Michael Keaton, all of whom are playing human characters rather than voicing animals as some people predicted.  “Holt (Colin Farrell) was once a circus star but he went off to war and when he returned, it had terribly altered him. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) hires him to take care of Dumbo, a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the struggling circus troupe. But when Holt’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), and aerial artist Colette Marchant (Eva Green) swoop in to make the little elephant a star.”  I’m looking forward to this also.  I fear there are tears in the future with this small, aerially able pachyderm.

Walt Disney Studios movies Penguins

BUDDING FAMILY — Disneynature’s all-new feature film “Penguins” is a coming-of-age story about an Adélie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. From the filmmaking team behind “Bears” and “Chimpanzee,” Disneynature’s “Penguins” opens in theaters nationwide in time for Earth Day 2019.  Monkey Kingdom was such a treat.  I’m looking for the same quality with Penguins.

Hello all! I have been going to WDW since 1976 and can't count the number of trips along with some cruises. I love all things Disney, from the parks to the studios to the history of what made the Walt Disney Company what it is...Walt himself.
