Captain Marvel Review: No Spoilers Alert Needed

Captain Marvel is the latest superhero to be introduced to the public from the Marvel Universe. The Marvel world has so much history and sometimes you don’t know where each character fits in to the story. Well, this is not the case with this film. Captain Marvel is an origins story. It’s based in the 1990s which is a time we don’t know as much about the in Marvel Universe. This film helps to fill in the blanks to this time in the formation of the organizations that make up the Marvel Universe. This makes this film a good one for anyone. It doesn’t matter if you’re new to Marvel or a die-hard fan. This movie is a great addition to the Marvel Universe.

Even though I haven’t read any of the reviews, I did hear that they are mixed. I can understand that but there’s one thing I want everyone to keep in mind. This is an origin story, it is an introduction to a character and more. Just like when you meet someone for the first time, you are not going to get everything up front. Remember we’ve got 10 years of films invested in other characters. So be patient with Captain Marvel and the characters that surround her corner of Marvel. They are just getting to know us and will work their ways into our hearts soon.

Don’t get me wrong, this film is a great film and another good piece to the Marvel puzzle. There are great action scenes like the good versus bad battles we know and love from Marvel films. There’s also some light comedy that we enjoy from the Marvel films like “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Ant-Man.” But this isn’t a huge, epic film like “Infinity War” because we are just starting to get to know where Captain Marvel came from.

With that being said, I enjoyed the film. It was great to see a Marvel film with a female lead. It’s always a great message to the public to see someone be the hero that is not typically cast as such. But this film isn’t about a female superhero, it’s just about a great superhero who happens to be female. Personally, I think that is an important detail.

As we know, Marvel has a great range of superheroes and every hero brings something new to the table. Captain Marvel has amazing strength and a moral compass even outside her superhero persona. Also, her superpowers are very different from the other characters which will make it interesting to see where her story goes from here. I also can’t help but wonder if she learns more about her powers in the future.

I know it’s always better to be surprised when seeing a movie for the first time. I’d hate to ruin your introduction to Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers. So all I will say about Captain Marvel is that it’s a great film and you should grab some popcorn and check it out for yourself (then we can talk spoilers)!

Also, make sure you stay through the end of ALL the credits (2 credit scenes)!!
