Construction Update and Photo Report: March 2019

“Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world. It is something that will never be finished.” – Walt Disney.   Walt may have been talking about Disneyland, but the same holds true for Walt Disney World.  The spring of 2019 finds construction projects, small and large, all of the Walt Disney World Resort.  If you know me, I love a good photo report, and we have lots of them here at the Disney Nerds Podcast.  In true Disney Nerds fashion, I spent part of my most recent trip taking “construction” photos..   Here is a quick update. don’t forget, if you select one of the images, you can swipe through the rest – be sure to check the caption for details.

In the Epcot Resort Area the Skyline can be seen just about every where, but maybe no place better then The Caribbean Beach Resort, we saw extensive testing of the loop between Caribbean beach and Hollywood Studios, and we saw a single gondola on the Caribbean Beach to Pop Century loop.

At Magic Kingdom works is clearly visible for multiple projects, The Tron Coaster including the reshaping of the Tomorrowland Speedway and installation of new Rail Road Tracks.  It isn’t clear if the train track is moving, but it is clearly missing.  The Moat round Cinderella Castle has been drained, it’s part of the project to widen the paths around the castle. Specifically the path between “Sleepy hollow Refreshments’ and the area directly behind the castle, Casey Jr is also getting a referb.

At Epcot Construction of the Space Restaurant and Guardians Coaster can be seen from Test Track while France construction continues, including the recently announced restaurant.

At Hollywood Studios The Skyline Station is moving along, the new Resort Bus terminal is almost ready to open, construction of the new Security Check Point is moving along and inside the back some popular gift shops have been completely closed, speculation is they will be reopened with Star Wars Merchandise.  Oh, and that Star wars Galaxys Edge project is looking GREAT!!!

A new 349-room hotel tower is being added to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, land clearing is underway – The clearing goes right up against the Fantasia Mini-golf course, but does not remove it, the same can[‘t be said for the tennis court and special events shelter that was on the site.

Sam has been visiting Walt Disney World since 1986. The spark from those early trips lead to an interest in the "How" and "Why" behind Disney Parks and Resorts and the thrill of discovering the history of how we got here today. That History is still being written. In addition to participating on The Disney Nerds Podcast you can find blogs at www.samsdisneydiary.com
