Policy Changes at Walt Disney World and Disneyland
Greetings Disney Nerds!
We wanted to keep you up to date on some policy changes just announced at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World parks today. Some of these policy changes were rumored to be happening but now we have the official announcement from Disney.
Strollers
Starting May 1st, Disney is changing its guidelines for stroller sizes. They can now no longer be larger than 31” (79cm) wide and 52” (132cm) long. Most strollers on the market do meet these guidelines including double jogging strollers, so most families should be fine with this adjustment.
Also starting May 1st, stroller wagons will also no longer be permitted in the parks. This was a rumored announcement that is now official. There is no more clarification than that so we recommend sticking with a traditional stroller from now on to take children to the parks. There are several ways to rent strollers for the parks including one of our wonderful sponsors, Kingdom Strollers!
Smoking
Another announcement starting May 1st will be the removal of smoking areas inside Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex or Downtown Disney in California. There will be designated smoking areas outside the entrances to all of these areas and there will still be designated smoking areas at Disney Springs in Florida.
Loose Ice
Starting TODAY, if you plan on bringing a cooler or cooler bag to the theme parks or water parks for snacks and drinks, you can no longer bring loose or dry ice. Disney recommends using the re-useable ice packs to keep your items cold. They also remind you that complimentary cups of ice are available at Food & Beverage locations inside the parks if you need them.
Always keep in mind that Disney tries to announce these changes when they can but it’s always good to keep up to date on policies for Walt Disney World and Disneyland before any trip. You can find the rules for Walt Disney World here and Disneyland here.
