Disney Nerds Comic Corner: Star Wars- Halcyon Legacy #1
With the long anticipated, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser officially opening tomorrow, I thought we should get some back story on the ship people will be boarding soon, the Halcyon. It turns out Disney did as well and they are doing it with the 5 part comic book mini-series, Halcyon Legacy.
The first issue came out this month and we learn all about the Halcyon’s first trip through space.
Spoiler Alert
The comic book starts with a grandfather and his granddaughter, Shorr Komrrin and Lady Cimina, on the launch pod to the Halcyon. The granddaughter is excited about her first trip and are greeted by D3-09, a logistic droid who recognizes the gentleman and we learn he’s been on the Halcyon before! We get a one page glimpse of his time on the ship which we can only hope will be explored in a future issue.
But that’s not the only flashback we get. Once settled in their room, Lady Cimina notices a pirate ship outside. D3-09 distracts her from her worry but telling her that the Halcyon has been in major skirmishes before. So we flashback to 265 years and find Jedi Master Nib Assek and her padawan Burryaga in a guest cabin. (These characters are familiar from the “High Republic” series and timeline) We follow along Nib and Burryaga’s journey as they fight off an attack from the Nihil who seem to want something on the ship.
Once we finish this story with Nib and Burryaga we go back the present day on the Halcyon and find the pirate ship ready to attack.
What happens next? We must wait for Star Wars- Halcyon Legacy #2 which releases March 9th.
My Thoughts
This is the beginning of a great mini series to introduce us all to the Halcyon. If you ever get the chance to take a 2 day cruise on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser you might notice things on the ship that you wouldn’t know without reading this series. Personally, I can’t wait to see what happens next! So stayed tuned for the next Comic Corner when we discuss the second issue and the story inside!
In the meantime, check out the interview with Matt Martin all about this comic mini series!
