“Making the Wish: Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship” Documentary Coming to Disney+
Taking a Disney Cruise is typically on the bucket list for most Disney Nerds. This item might have gone up on your list last year when Disney Cruise Lines’ newest ship launched. But have you ever wondered how it was made?
Friday, February 17th you will get your questions answered with the National Geographic documentary “Making the Wish: Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship” premiering on Disney+. We were invited by Disney to get a sneak peek of this documentary as well as speaking with the filmmakers, Chad Cohen (director, writer, and producer) and Bethany Jones (producer and writer).
“Making the Wish: Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship” is a 66min documentary that goes through the steps of making the Disney Wish. The team at National Geographic spent over a year of that time documenting those final steps of getting the ship ready for its initial cruise. While talking to them, we really hear how amazing it was to try and document everything and with a ship as big as the Wish, they couldn’t get everything. But what they did capture is amazing.
Within that year, the film crew documented things like laying the carpet down in the main lobby, installing the Rapunzel statue on the outside of the ship, and working technical kinks out in the Worlds of Marvel restaurant.
There are also a lot of behind-the-scenes things that will be interesting to any Disney Nerd. It’s great to see the stateroom being slid into the ship and the backstage area where cast members work to help make bring the magic to guests on their cruise. There are also some fun facts to learn like the fact that there are 250 chefs on board!
Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll experience watching the documentary. Take a look:
I don’t want to give too much away because it’s a wonderful documentary and with all the things you learn and see, you should definitely take the time to watch it.
