Chase Family Surprised with Invitation to Walt Disney World to Experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Disney Parks shared a wonderful story with us today and we wanted to take a moment and share it with you.

Yesterday, the Chase family was invited to be among the first to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World before it opens this summer.

Who Is The Chase Family?

The Chase family is the family of Legendary chef Leah Chase. She was the former owner and operator of Dooky Chase’s. She was also one of the inspirations for the character of Princess Tiana in  “The Princess and the Frog.” Chef Leah Chase’s wanted to give back to her community with her cooking and making an inclusive space for everyone. She transformed a sandwich shop in Tremé into one of the first African American fine dining establishments in the country called Dooky Chase’s. Without this exceptional woman, there would be no Tiana. Chef Leah Chase passed away in 2019, but her family keeps her and the family’s legacy alive in many ways including the development of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

During the family’s visit yesterday. Stella Chase Reese (Leah’s daughter) was presented with the Walt Disney World Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction poster. She was also presented with a hard hat and became an honorary Imagineer.

Her sister, Leah Chase Jr., was given a framed photo from the recording session where she lent her voice to some of the attraction’s music.

Now if that wasn’t enough, Walt Disney World Ambassadors surprised the family in New Orleans and invited the family to be some of the first to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! What a great way for The Chase Family to see the continuing impact of their matriarch and their family!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to open this summer at Walt Disney World.
