What’s New at The Studios- January 2nd 2018
Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to our first look at the Disney Studios in 2018. A lot to anticipate over the next 12 months including the promised opening of Toy Story Land with the Slinky Dog Dash crazy coaster and the Alien Swirling Saucer rocket ride being prepared to amaze guests. And, set your calendars as the much anticipated opening of Star Wars Galaxy Edge, the planet of Battu, is now one year closer to reality.
Meanwhile, back to this new month. The biggest news flash is right outside of the park with the anticipated Skyliner construction. With stations planned for connecting Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, EPCOT, and the Hollywood Studios, there is now an image of the Gondolas (Skyliner cabins), the route and more details about the project posted on the construction wall near the Studio’s main entrance. Be sure to take a look. No doubt amazing panoramic views and aerial perspectives await future Skyliner passengers. Some palm tree trimming in front of the Chinese Theater has helped slightly improve the up close view of the night time entertainment projections. The classic Disney ice cream cart mentioned last week on Grand Avenue has been expanded to include beer selections along with ice cold soda and tasty ice cream. Visit this cart for your refreshment needs if in the vicinity and often experience much shorter lines during crowds. In fact, during the holiday season this stand serves guests right up until an hour before park closing. The logo on the Park trash receptacles is going through a transformation, in case you haven’t noticed. Slow but sure, the iconic Chinese Theater logo is gradually giving way to the Carthay Circle image. The Disney line to “Keep our city clean” remains. For a collectable photo of the old logo before they vanish, check out the trash cans near the front of the park at Hollywood and Sunset Blvd. During the post-Christmas week at Carthay Circle, beloved Santa Clause has passed the reigns of his meet and greet to good old Santa Goofy. Start the New Year with a Goofy visit during the same hours, right up to around an hour after park closing.
