Meet Charlotte

Charlotte is our sweet but sassy Southern Belle, living in the Metro Atlanta area but planning her ‘escape’ to Central Florida to be closer to the magic. After raising 3 kids and sending them out into the world, she also is DeeDee to one precious granddaughter, huMom to a Siberian husky, a few cats and a fish tank that would put Dr. Philip Sherman’s of Wallaby Lane to shame.

After 17+ years of working as a Legal Nurse Consultant, Charlotte left her law firm to home-school her youngest daughter. Now that that daughter  has gone off to college, Charlotte finds her time spent working from home as a freelance author, photographer and social media content creator. You can find her on her lifestyle blog at Just Peachy Keen, a public speaker at many conferences, as well as working part-time in retail management, but you’ll also find her as a podcast co-host, admin for the Disney Nerds Facebook group and behind the scenes on the Disney Nerds Podcast Facebook page.  Who knows where she’ll pop up next?!

How I became a Disney Nerd?

I think the nerdiest part about me is how much I love to read, and when I find a topic that interests me, I become voracious in reading everything I can about it. With Disney, I can keep reading forever! The topic is never-ending; there’s Disney history, legends, untold stories, re-imagined tales and so much more!

Favorite Disney memory

I remember our first trip, and getting caught in that whole First-Timer’s Awe as we realized that this was so much more than an amusement park. This was truly a whole new world! My son, who as a high school senior often balked at my hugging him in public, took my hand and then his sister’s, and we all walked together down Main Street for the first time. That moment, that magic that enfolded us all right there, right then, is why I keep going back.

Favorite Disney Character

Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland (with a nod to Absalom the caterpillar and Epcot’s Figment. I can’t choose between those three, it’s like picking one of my kids!

Favorite Disney movie

Meet the Robinson’s! Oh, how I love this movie! As someone who found family along the way, it speaks to my heart in a way few others do. Picking this one though leaves out so many other favorites: Beauty & the Beast, Mulan, Princess & the Frog, Tangled…oh the list goes on and on.

I do have to give a nod to my favorite live action movie though. If I am ever in need of a couch day, Eight Below is what is playing on my television. I curl up with my dogs and we all watch together. Disney is a favorite for people and dogs!

Favorite Park

Once again, it is like choosing which child is my favorite, but if you have listened to the show, you know my favorite is Animal Kingdom. It’s Notazoo!

Favorite Attraction

The People Mover in the Magic Kingdom’s Tommorowland and the Alice in Wonderland ride at Disneyland.

Favorite Resort

My bucket list is to stay in every resort and so far I have been very blessed to experience more than half of them, but still, no matter where I roam, Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds will always be my home. I love the Fort. Camping at the Fort has always been the right mix of go time and down time, and the setting couldn’t be better. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, waking up in my bed at my campsite and hearing the boat to Magic Kingdom whistle in the distance is about one of the best sounds someone could hear. You are truly waking up to magic!

Favorite Restaurant

Sunshine Season’s in The Land pavilion at EPCOT. I have literally walked through the rain from where I was staying at Beach Club Resort, through the International Gateway in World Showcase to the front of EPCOT just for the seared tuna noodle salad at Sunshine Season’s. For Table Service restaurants, I have a wide variety of favorites like Raglan Road, Sanaa, California Grill and Kona Café.

Favorite Snack

Tough choice! I love a Dole Whip Float, and the occasional Turkey leg, but my favorite takes me back to EPCOT again – this time to Karamel Kuche in Germany for caramel popcorn, pineapple spears and anything and everything else covered in ooey gooey delicious caramel! I do really miss Writer’s Stop though, that was our favorite snack and coffee shop on property. The Carrot Cake Cookie was amazing. (You can still get the Carrot Cake Cookie at Sweet Spells, but it just isn’t the same.)
