What’s New At The Studios-January 16th 2018
Get set for the weekly walk around the Studios. Winter temperatures and hot beverages welcome visitors this week.
Listen up fans! With the park’s holiday decorations removed back on January 11, the outdoor music at the main entrance and along Hollywood Blvd is playing a new tone. While this new Disney background music awaits guests, the popular sounds of the 30’s and 40’s are still audible in specific outdoor areas. There are even new classic rock live tracks near Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster. While Grand Avenue has more of a contemporary west coast sound. News flash from Pixar Place! The main que room of Toy Story Midway Mania is now behind construction walls. Attraction riders now enter both stand by and fastpass ques outside but then gradually merge together through the emergency exit. Grab those yellow 3-D glasses and rack up some points on this attraction.
With the conclusion of this season’s Jingle Bell Jingle Bam, dessert party fun, the construction walls to the right of the closed Chinese Theater have vanished and so has the party’s equipment storage. No visible improvements are left behind, but still look forward to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in the near future.
Diners enjoying the recently renamed Dockside Diner can select their meal choice from upgraded menu postings near the order window. Same great cuisine awaits you. The surrounding outdoor seating is still relatively comfortable on sunny days, even with the colder weather. But leave the flip flops at home for now.
Heads up for frozen Coke beverage drinkers. Peevy’s Polar Pipeline is no longer pumping out your favorite frozen beverages at this time. Slow times apparently have necessitated a brief shutdown until the crowds of spring break thaws out their business. Stay Tuned.
Any remaining holiday gift money in guest’s pockets is welcome over at Pluto’s Toy Palace where new Mickey Mouse merchandise awaits purchase. Needing to upgrade a Guardians of the Galaxy hat? Check out a new arrival at Walt Disney Presents gift area near the theater entrance.
The future of the park’s new traffic exit lanes is “bright”. Workers installed brand new pole lights in the yet to open new vehicle lanes near the main entrance.
Grand Avenue continues to change almost weekly! The area near Harmony Music Shop is now a smoking area. Likewise, guests can now enjoy a delicious corn dog at an outdoor stand that replaced the previous ice cream cart.
