When It’s Time to Relax, Head to The Senses Spa
Hi ya pal! It’s been a while. So for this post I decided to tell you a little about my experience(s) at Senses. This was a bucket list for me a few years ago, and BAM my husband treated me to Senses while we were on the Disney Cruise. Let me tell you, there is nothing like getting a full massage on the cruise while you’re looking out at the sea. That was pure serenity.
After that first experience, I knew I had to do it again, and again. Once we moved to Florida, and my husband and daughter became cast members, I’ve been treated every Mother’s Day to a Massage and/or facial. In November, I turned the big 5-0! To my surprise, my husband treated my daughter and I to a spa day. Let me just tell you that fell in love. We each got a massage, and facial.
When we walked in, the staff escorted us to the changing room. They gave us a robe and slippers. Yep, the robe was so lush that I have to admit I wanted to put that in my bag and make a break for it. Once we were dressed we were escorted to the relaxation room. While in there, we were offered teas, cucumber or lemon water and various snacks. The masseuse came to get us. In the massage room, of course you’re in complete serenity. The masseuse gave me some privacy to disrobe and get under the covers on the table. The massage started with the scent of my choice. I always choose lavender because that’s my favorite scent in the whole world, but I decided on the citrus scent this time.
While, the citrus scent was amazing, I would much prefer the lavender. The masseuse takes the scent of your choice in his/her hand and puts it right under your nose so that you can breathe it in. We had an hour long massage which did not disappoint. The masseuse talked with me prior to starting to get any pain points that she needed to work on or avoid. The room was low lit and when the masseuse spoke to you it was in a very low tone so as not to ruin the ambiance of the massage. I could really go on all day about the massage.
Once we were done with the massage, the masseuse escorted us back to the relaxation room. My legs felt like jelly and I was totally relaxed, which does not happen often for me. Thank goodness the facial part of the day was also laying down because I don’t think I could have sat up if I was paid to do it. The consultant spoke with me prior to getting started to find out if I had any area of concerns about my skin, or anything special I wanted her to focus on. She started with a full cleansing, followed by exfoliation, followed by a moisturizing and a hot wrap in between each portion of the facial.
There are two locations at Disney World, one at the Grand Floridian and the other is at Saratoga Springs. I have been lucky enough to experience both locations. There is also a spa on the Disney Ships. There are various facial packages ranging in price from $150.00-$235.00. The massage therapies range in price from $195.00 to $400.00. Of course the $400.00 price is for two. There are also body therapies. This service includes body scrubs as well as soaking in a batch and either a massage or a rub down with body cream. I haven’t had the body therapy yet, maybe that’ll be a suggestion for this Mother’s Day!
Senses also does nails and pedicures. The price for the nail treatments range from $75.00 to $95.00. There are also spa packages. The prices for the packages range from $350.00 to $675.00. The packages include massage, facial, mani/pedi. There are also children’s services for children between 4-12. They can get mani/pedi’s but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. To each treatment there are also add on services. Of course, you do also have the option to buy the products that they use.
