A Review of Marvel’s Avengers Endgame!
Avengers: Endgame is an Epic Conclusion to an Epic Story
It might seem like an impossible feat to top the momentous impact that Avengers: Infinity War delivered but Avengers: Endgame is a superhero movie unlike any other. Not only does Marvel’s newest installment go above and beyond Infinity War, it showcases the very best a superhero movie has to offer. It has all the bravado of a grand finale yet sets the table for new characters to take the lead. It is a powerhouse of action and heart that is sure to please even the most diehard fans. Ten years in the making and it has all come down to this mesmerizing and heart-stopping conclusion.
Emotional Performances Enhance the Heart of the Story
From the very beginning, the emotional performance of this stellar cast pulls you in. You cry when they cry, you laugh when they laugh, you ride every emotion right along with them and trust me, Endgame is filled with emotion. The incredible loss stemming from Infinity War is beautifully played out by the cast. It’s clearly evident that the original six, Robert Downy Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner, have poured their hearts and souls into this performance. They give it their all and the outcome had people on their feet cheering, myself included.
The heart that this movie has is astounding and seems to be a growing trend for this powerhouse franchise. Bold effects and daring explosives are in no way taking a backseat but the heart and emotional drive of the story is taking a forefront in a big way. Small, character-driven moments pull off a bigger impact than any fight scene or explosion. It makes you connect to these beloved characters in a way that feels personal and leaves a lasting impact.
Suspense Drives the Action Forward
But the fantastic acting and beautiful display of heart isn’t the only thing that makes this movie so amazing. It’s not even the mind-bending effects which are always fantastic and a thrill to watch. What truly made this film one of the best to date is the masterful building of suspense. This is a story that we the fans have watched unfold over the past ten years and we have finally reached the end. This is it, the final show. Even before you step in the theater you are filled with anticipation. The suspense you feel during the whole movie grips you and doesn’t let go until the final battle. Every twist and turn that gets thrown your way has you on the edge of your seat, hoping for the best possible outcome. It makes the nearly three hour run time fly by in a blink of an eye and before you know it, the credits are rolling and you are left blow away.
Avengers: Endgame is a Touching Love Letter to the Fans
Perhaps one of the best parts of Endgame is all of wonderful throwbacks to past movies that are scattered throughout. Little details and surprising cameos make a touching love letter to the fans that have been there from the very beginning. It helps break up the sometimes heavy emotion and ever-present suspense. But it also speaks to just how long this story has been building. Little things that might not have seemed like a big deal are mirrored in Endgame in such a way that leaves you feeling giddy and wanting more. It is exciting to watch and really helps tie everything together, making Endgame truly feel like the epic conclusion that it is.
There are so many wonderful things about this film that they can’t possibly fit in one review. Avengers: Endgame is a heartfelt and engaging conclusion to an era, a masterful culmination of 22 incredible films, and a movie that is sure to go down in history as one of the greats. My only advice is to get to a theater as soon as you can; this is one movie you don’t want to miss.
