What is Dapper Day?
What is up with all these people dressing so fancy and awesome to the Disney Parks? Have you heard of Disney Dapper Day yet? If you love dressing up and want to show a hint of Disney then allow me to introduce you to Dapper Days!
What is a Dapper Day?
Dapper Day is when you can dress up in sophisticated styles that have an influence of 1950’s Disneyland. Some of those who dress up like to add character and park influence as well.
You have the freedom of creating your own outfit or purchasing it from a clothing store. You can visit the official website at www.dapperday.com.
Who can participate?
Anyone can dress up for Dapper Day! Some of the events are held in different places so make sure to check their website to keep up to date! For example, this April, there is a meet up at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Knowing that, you will need park tickets in order to get in. There is no registration needed in order to participate.
When and Where?
Dapper Day events happen at Walt Disney World Florida, Disneyland California, and Disneyland Paris, so far. Their main Dapper Day Expo is held in Disneyland, California. Check their website for event information and times. Click here.
Is this the same as Disney Bounding?
Yes and no. Disney Bonding is when you wear an outfit that is influenced by a certain character. You can Disney Bound whenever and where ever you want to! Dapper Days are when you create an outfit that has a 1950’s style and can have a hint of a certain Disney movie, character, park ride, etc. Dapper Days have certain times in the year where a large group of people do this all at once.
Advice from a pro-Dapper Day attendee!
I had the opportunity of chatting with the lovely Tori Stumpek. When it comes to dressing up for Dapper Days, Stumpek is on her way to becoming a pro. Her first Dapper Day was in the Spring of 2015. She heard of it by word of mouth from other Disney nerds like us! She has created many friendships from attending and participating in Dapper Days. Stumpek has dressed up several times now and has some great tips for those who want to give it a try!
- Do not go overboard!
- Wear comfortable shoes. If you must wear the extravagant heals or boots, bring a backup pair of shoes.
- Take a look at the forecast before committing to an outfit. Keep in mind the California and Florida heat!
