Hidden Star Wars Easter Egg at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Now you might think that with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge, this would be another article about that great new location in the Star Wars-verse.  It is not.  This Disney’s Hollywood Studios Star Wars story takes place at the Launch Bay.

Star Wars, Launch Bay Theatre, ShipOn the other side of the Launch Bay Theater to be precise. On our last trip to WDW, we noticed something that was amazingly hidden and small and I was so blown away, I had to share. As you exit the theatre, you enter a series of rooms that eventually lead you out of the Launch Bay.  This first room has a number of models including Princess Leia’s “Tantive IV” Correllian Blockade runner.

I’m an avid model maker (add that to my Nerd Credentials) and love to always check these great scale models of some of the most famous Star Wars ships, monsters, and locations.  John had mentioned that there might be something special about the Tantive IV, so we took a closer look this time as we walked through the exhibit.

The idea of there being something hidden is not something new to the Disney animators or to the Imagineers.  We are all familiar with those classic hidden mickeys, well, hidden everywhere.  And to have an out of context picture or reference hidden somewhere in plain sight should always be expected.  This one was pretty exceptional.  See the Bridge viewport?  Look close.  In the above picture, it looks dark but we did see something.

Can you see what it is?  Is that great Mash-Up of what the Walt Disney Company and Lucasarts have become or what?   Mickey and Minnie as Luke and Leia swinging their way through the Death Star.  Remember that one cell of a Playboy centerfold in the Rescuers that was finally outed on the video? (Google it)  Well, this is just like that but cleaner.  I was able to find the original.

The moral of this story is you never know where your gonna see the next great easter egg.  I can’t wait to find the next one.  Did I ever tell you about the Ice Cream maker Memory Core from The Empire Strikes Back over in the Mose Eisley Bar scene in the Launch Bay?  Share your best Park easter eggs here.

Hello all! I have been going to WDW since 1976 and can't count the number of trips along with some cruises. I love all things Disney, from the parks to the studios to the history of what made the Walt Disney Company what it is...Walt himself.
