Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs: Worth the Wait?
A virtual queue line for a bakery? Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs offer’s guests an experience that has guests waiting in line anywhere from 1 to 5-hours just to enter through it’s massive double doors!
Gideon’s Bakehouse is a Florida original bakery that is best known for it’s 1/2 pound, homemade cookies, specialty cakes, and cold brews. With it’s newest location in Disney Springs, the demand for Gideon’s treats are high and the lines are long.
When we went to Gideon’s Bakehouse this past weekend, we arrived at 9:00 AM and the line was already wrapped around Morimoto Asia. The bakery did not open until 10 AM so we did have an hour wait until we were able to enter. The bakery has a Disney cast member at the entrance who makes sure the doors remain closed at all times except when guests exit and enter. This gives each guest a completely exclusive experience!
Once you enter Gideon’s Bakehouse, your senses are immediately overwhelmed with scents of chocolate! With the atmosphere being a mix of Haunted Mansion, goth, and Funko Pop, you are sure to feel as if you stepped out of Disney Springs and into another world!
The menu is short and sweet but it does offer seasonal limited items so you’ll want to check the menu before visiting. When we were there, the featured flavor was the Chocolate Chip Key Lime Pie Cookie and the Key Lime Pie Cake. We absolutely love Key Lime so we were excited to try this! The Gideon’s Bakeshop in Disney Springs also offers its Coffee Cake Cookie daily, however, this is first come first so if this a treat you are hoping to get, you will want to arrive early in the day.
The prices for the cookies are $6 and the cake slices are $9. The cookies are absolutely huge and rich and will take you a couple days to eat. The cake slices are massive and will also take a couple days to eat and will require help from your friends and family! Gideon’s cold brew coffee is $6 and soda shop offerings are $3.50.
At the time we went to Gideon’s, the cookie flavors offered were: Original Chocolate Chip Cookie, Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip, Cookies & Cream, Triple Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Crunch, Coffee Cake Cookie (Exclusive Daily Limited Edition Disney Springs Flavor), and of course the Chocolate Chip Key Like Pie Cookie. The cake flavors offered were: True Red Velvet, Daily Chocolate Cake Slice (Rotating each day of the week), Daily Double Frosted Cake (Rotating flavors), and the Key Lime Pie Cake!
We ended up trying the Original Chocolate Chip Cookie and a slice of the Key Lime Pie Cake. The Original Chocolate Chip cookie was very rich, and although it was delicious, we could not eat more than 2-bites of it! The Key Lime Pie Cake was absolutely exceptional. The texture mix of cake and pie was a perfect blend, the sweet and tart combination was perfect. We both ate far more of it in one sitting than we should have! They packaged the cake slice in a to-go box that was easy to close and place in a backpack. They also provided plastic utensils so we were able to snack on it later in the day!
The entire experience took approximately 1 1/2 hours from the moment we arrived at 9 AM until the time we left the bakery with our goods! If guests are not able to arrive early in the day, a virtual queue line is opened so you wont have to physically stand in line for hours. You do need to physically arrive to Gideon’s Bakehouse and talk to a cast member to be placed in the virtual queue.
Ultimately, we feel the wait for Gideon’s Bakehouse was absolutely worth it and we will definitely be going back on our next visit to Disney Springs! If you’re in the Disney Springs area or vacationing at Walt Disney World, celebrate your day with one of these tasty treats! It is definitely worth your time and money.
