Tropical Americas Land Announced for Disney’s Animal Kingdom

As a die-hard Disney enthusiast, I can barely contain my excitement about the newly announced Tropical Americas land coming to Animal Kingdom! This ambitious project, set to transform the current DinoLand U.S.A., promises to be a game-changer for the park and a dream come true for Disney fans like myself.

The prospect of an 11-acre expansion dedicated to the rich cultures and landscapes of Tropical America has my imagination running wild. I’m particularly intrigued by the phased approach Disney is taking, starting in late 2024. It’s like unwrapping a present slowly, with each reveal building more anticipation for the final product in 2027.

One of the standout features has to be the massive hacienda housing which is said to be one of the largest quick-service restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. As a foodie, I’m already daydreaming about the potential menu items. Will we see authentic cuisines from various Tropical American regions? The possibilities are mouth-watering!

But let’s talk attractions, because that’s where the magic really happens. The giant working carousel, crafted by a local woodcarver according to the backstory, sounds like it will be a visual masterpiece. I can already picture the intricate details and the stories it will tell through its design.

However, what’s really got me bouncing with joy are the two signature attractions. An Indiana Jones-based ride in Animal Kingdom? Yes, please! I’m envisioning a thrilling adventure that combines the archaeological excitement of Indy with the natural wonders of Tropical America. And don’t even get me started on the Encanto-themed ride-through attraction. The vibrant colors, the music, the magic of the Madrigal family – I can’t wait to see how Disney Imagineers bring this beloved animated world to life.

As a Disney nerd, I’m also excited about the deeper storytelling opportunities this new land presents. The idea of a “lived-in land with a rich history” suggests we’ll be treated to the kind of immersive world-building that Disney does best. I’m looking forward to discovering hidden details, learning about the land’s backstory, and feeling truly transported to Tropical America.

The 2027 completion date feels both thrillingly close and frustratingly far. But if there’s one thing us Disney fans excel at, it’s patience mixed with anticipation. I’ll be eagerly following every update, concept art release, and construction progress report until I can finally step foot in this new tropical paradise.

Tropical Americas isn’t just a new land; it’s a promise of new adventures, new stories, and new memories waiting to be made. For this Disney nerd, 2027 can’t come soon enough!

Hello all! I have been going to WDW since 1976 and can't count the number of trips along with some cruises. I love all things Disney, from the parks to the studios to the history of what made the Walt Disney Company what it is...Walt himself.
