Disneyland Paris , Here I Come !!!

If you were listening in on show # 226 of the Disney Nerds Podcast, you might have heard me mention that this year out of no-where we are going to DL Paris US Site

To recap, my son is lucky enough to be attending school in England this year.  My wife and daughter had talked about going to visit him on Spring Break.  Well after a lot of talking, we decided that based on Flight costs and tax refunds we were going to meet him in Paris and head out to DLP for a couple of days.  How about that?  Well, there is a lot about that, now that the decision had been made.  If you know me at all, I’m a total planning Nerd and I knew nothing about Disneyland Paris.  I truly never thought I would be going.

The first thing I did was go to their website.  DL Paris US Site Now be careful, there is a UK site and a US site and it makes a difference when you book and look at prices.  My first impression as I looked at the parks and what they had to offer was Wow!  The second impression was why do I see people in winter coats, LOL.  Revelation # 1, it is the same weather as Philadelphia.  For someone stuck to mainly going to WDW or DL in the summer, this could be a good thing. Disneyland Paris www.thedisneynerdspodcast.com

Next thing to do, get a room.  I’m not going to go into details too much about the different hotels, but there are 7 DLP resorts and they do rate them based on cost.  I did not even need to research them as there were only a couple resorts not sold out.  The Cheyenne and the Sequoia Lodge and the Disneyland Hotel.  DL Hotel was out at a hefty $835 a night and the obvious Deluxe resort and what looks like the entrance to the Disneyland Resort.  The Cheyenne was the value and the Sequoia the Moderate.  We selected the Sequoia as it was not much more than the Cheyenne and it had a room for 4 adults.  Sigh, my family are all adults, at least age-wise.

So, again, due to lack of knowledge and lack of time, we are going into this using the DLP package of Hotel and Tickets.  Have not done that in WDW in a decade.  Tickets for 4 days worked out to be about $248 each if bought outside the package and there was no such thing as a hopper option for the pass.  Both parks are accessible.  In the booking process online it was a little bit brutal.  After picking your dates and then resort you got thrown onto a page that listed different variations on the hotel room.  That was not all, along with changing Bed Configuration, they also changed dates and vacation ranges.  So be careful.  The hotel itself looks great.  We are supposed to be in the main lodge.  Get this, after booking and doing some more research into the hotel, we found they have not only a pool, but something not heard of in Fla., an INDOOR pool.  Whoo Hoo!

So now on to the Park and Paris planning.  Oh yeah, we’re going to Paris for a day or two also.  I’ll follow up in a couple days with the results of the next set of planning.  There are some incredible attractions that I can’t wait to get to.  PLEASE help me out.  If you’ve been to DLP or know any good sites to help us plan, post in the comments. Thanks!

Hello all! I have been going to WDW since 1976 and can't count the number of trips along with some cruises. I love all things Disney, from the parks to the studios to the history of what made the Walt Disney Company what it is...Walt himself.
