2019 D23 Expo Announcements, So Far!

Every two years the city of Anaheim, CA gets a little more Disney magic than normal. Why you might ask? Because of the D23 Expo of course! It is the ultimate event for any Disney fan. Two of our co-hosts, Sam and Charlotte, were able to attend last year and I’m sure they can agree that everyone should attend at least once. We’re still a year away from the Expo but we thought we’d share what we know so far!

The 2019 D23 Expo will be the weekend of August 23-25th. The Expo will be at the Anaheim Convention Center again and will feature all aspects of Disney (Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and more). Disney plans to include more than 50 presentations, shows, and panels next year. A highlight every year is the Disney Legends Ceremony which honors those who’ve made a significant contribution to Disney. I’m sure next year will be no exception. The Walt Disney Archives will also have a new exhibit which will be a must see for any Disney history buff.

Another popular event is the Mousequerade which brings talented Disney fans from all over to show off their amazing costumes that celebrate everything Disney! It’s already been announced that actress Yvette Nicole Brown (who is a huge cosplay fan) and fashion designer Ashley Eckstein (creator of Her Universe and voice of Ahsoka on the animated Star Wars series) will return as judges.

Some details of the Design Challenge have been announced as well. The 2019 challenge will be themed after to very popular Disney attraction, Haunted Mansion! This challenge encourages fans to create designs inspired by the attraction. Disney will choose 23 pieces to be finalists and the designs will be on display at the Expo. The winner of the challenge will win a cash prize of $2,300! Who wouldn’t love to win that?!
