Pixar Announces Suburban Fantasy Film Details for Onward

Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios announced the title of its next feature-length project: Onward

Pixar Animation Studios revealed today four members of its voice cast for its original new feature film “Onward,” including Chris Pratt (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Tom Holland (“Spiderman: Homecoming”), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) and Octavia Spencer (“The Shape of Water”). Directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae, the team behind 2013’s “Monsters University.”

At last year’s D23, Pixar revealed that the plot would follow a world of “suburban fantasy,” populated by beings of fantasy stories like trolls, elves, centaurs and more. In this world, machines take the place of magic — so elves use cell phones and centaurs eat fast food. Instead of being mysterious, glamorous creatures, unicorns are racoon-like pests. Anthropomorphic trees grow in the middle of parking lots.

The plot will follow two teenage elf brothers (presumably voiced by Pratt and Holland) as they embark on a quest to see if there’s any magic left in the world.

“At Pixar we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth,” said director Dan Scanlon (Monsters University) in a press release. “This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”

Onward comes to theaters on March 6, 2020.

Hello all! I have been going to WDW since 1976 and can't count the number of trips along with some cruises. I love all things Disney, from the parks to the studios to the history of what made the Walt Disney Company what it is...Walt himself.
