New Details on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, & more!

This past Tuesday, we were invited to a special media event that provided us so many awesome updates that we just had to share!

First, we learned that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open March 4, 2020, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

This will be the first Disney ride-through attraction featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, which will draw guests inside a Mickey cartoon for a fun-filled adventure where “Mouse rules apply” and anything can happen!

Who’s excited to take a trip with Mickey and Minnie on this railway?!

Then we learned about Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. If you haven’t heard, this is the new Star Wars “hotel” that is being built. This “hotel” will be a starship and will begin to take guests off to a galaxy far, far away in 2021! This is will be a new immersive vacation. You will become a part of the adventure because you will be in the world of Star Wars for your entire vacation!

As we learned at D23, there’s a lot coming to Epcot but we’ve all watched the construction for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion. We now know that this ride will open in summer 2020 and we got to see what the ride vehicle will look like! This ride is going to shrink you down to the size of a rat so you can so on a culinary adventure with Chef Remy!

We also learned that DuckTales is coming to Epcot! Using your Play Disney app, you will take a trip around World Showcase with Scrooge McDuck, Donald, Launchpad, Webby and of course Huey, Dewey, and Louie. You will discover exotic destinations, exciting mysteries, and maybe even a few thieves, villains and supernatural guardians of ancient artifacts. This new interactive adventure will be called DuckTales World Showcase Adventure and it will be a must-play!

There’s also new details on the three new films coming to Epcot on January 17th, 2020:

  • “Awesome Planet” in The Land pavilion will showcase the Earth’s beauty and diversity on a 10-minute film. The film will feature spectacular imagery, in-theater effects and an original musical score from Academy Award-winning® composer Steven Price.
  • “Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along” in the France pavilion will invite guests to participate in a twist on a tale as old as time. As we know, this film is directed and produced by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films but we also learned that it will feature narration from Angela Lansbury, who played Mrs. Potts in the original film. The new sing-along will run in rotation with “Impressions de France,” which will receive an upgrade to 4K projection.
  • “Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360” in the Canada Pavilion will update the previous “O Canada!” film. It will feature new scenes, and we’ve learned that there will be a new musical score by Canadian composer Andrew Lockington and new narration by award-winning actors Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.

We also got some more information about the restaurants coming to Epcot:

  • Space 220 Restaurant is coming this winter! This is a new table-service restaurant at Epcot next to Mission: SPACE. When you enter the restaurant, you’ll step into a special space elevator that will take you 220 miles above the earth’s surface and offer incredible celestial views. We can’t wait to try this place ourselves!
  • Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue will also open this winter in The American Adventure. This is will be a fast-casual restaurant that will serve classic barbecue and home-style craft brews. Regal Eagle will celebrate American backyard barbecue with flavors from different regions around the United States. Personally, I’m hoping for a sampler to try all the different kinds of barbecue here in the United States!

If that wasn’t enough information, we learned some details about somethings going on over at Hollywood Studios:

  • The Mickey Shorts Theater will show an original Mickey Mouse short film in the animation style currently featured on The Disney Channel. There will also be photo opportunities for guests.
  • Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant will arrive at Toy Story Land in 2020! This will be an immersive restaurant as you attend a rootin’, toonin’ rodeo in Andy’s backyard! We can’t wait to hear more about this!

Wow! That’s a lot of information! What are you most excited about? We can’t wait to experience all that’s coming to Walt Disney World over the next few years!
