Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna & Agnarr”- A Disney Nerds Book Review

Let me preface this review by saying that I am NOT a reader. The last book I read was probably about eight years ago. Reading is just not something that I prefer to do in my spare time. However, when given the opportunity to read “Frozen 2: Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr” by Mari Mancusi, I couldn’t pass it up! I absolutely adored the Frozen films. With all of that being said, I could NOT put this book down.

What is Dangerous Secrets about?

Dangerous Secrets is the riveting secret love story of Agnarr and Iduna, the parents of Frozen’s Anna and Elsa. This is a beautifully written book that answers every question that we have ever had about Anna and Elsa’s childhood and what happened before what we were shown in the films.

From the beginning, Agnarr and Iduna’s love was controversial. Iduna was a simple village girl and Agnarr was King of Arrendale. Thinking that royalty must marry royalty, the two kept their love hidden from the rest of the world. In this tale, we find out that Iduna has also been hiding a secret from Agnarr and the entire village of Arrendale since she was twelve years old. Iduna is not who Agnarr thinks she is, but in fear of jeopardizing Agnarr’s future as king of Arrendale, she must keep her secret. When tragedy strikes though, the truth must be told…which in turn sets us on our path to the rest of the story. Will Agnarr, the hater of secrets, forgive Iduna? Will love really conquer all? What really happened on Agnarr and Iduna’s journey to Ahtohallan on that fateful night? This story answers these questions and so much more.

I loved this book!

The language and the way that the story was written, allowed me to see what I was reading. I was able to feel as if I was experiencing the story through the eyes of both Agnarr and Iduna. The author, Mari Mancusi, alternated points of view throughout the book which kept me on my toes throughout the entire story. This book is sure to please anyone who chooses to immerse themselves in its magic. The various nods to the film and the fact that the book ends where the films begin, makes it feel as though we finally have a perfect Frozen circle. Mari is a truly gifted author whom you can tell has a true passion for storytelling. I look forward to reading whatever stories she plans to tell in the future.

If you are a fan of the Frozen films, I highly recommend this book! Be sure to pre-order your copy before it’s release on November 3rd!
