Disney Nerds Resort Review: Caribbean Beach
The spirit of the Caribbean is definitely captured and celebrated at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort! If care-free leisure and relaxation are what you’re seeking, this is the resort for you!
This resort is considered a moderate resort with a mid-range price. It is a Disney-owned resort on Walt Disney property and offers the full benefits of staying on Disney property.
Check-in
Currently, at all Disney resorts, The My Disney Experience app allows guests who have paired their resort reservation confirmation on their smartphone, to check-in online through the app. This allows for easy, contact-free check-in, and check-out experience. Once checked-in, the My Disney Experience app will notify you via text message when your room is ready as well provide you with a room number and resort map sent directly to your text message! It’s that easy! The room key is available either through the My Disney Experience app or paired on your Magic Bands.
The lobby at Caribbean Beach Resort is comfortable in size. It’s beautiful and has plenty of seating with both outlets and USB ports. It has a full Disney Resort Gift Shop that has all newly released merchandise, Disney snacks, grab-n-go drink/food options, and any necessities you may have forgotten to pack. The lobby is also where the resort’s main quick-service dining is located.
The resort buildings are named after 5 Caribbean Islands: Martinique, Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica, and Aruba.
They are placed around Barefoot Bay with a small Island in the middle, Caribbean Cay. Caribbean Cay offers a tropical landscaped playground for children to play! The lobby, Old Port Royal, is centrally located between Martinique and Barbados. This is where the feature pool is located. This pool is a pirates cove with a large slide, a hot tub, and other fun surprises for kids to enjoy! Each island/building has its own waterfront sand area with hammocks and beach chairs for lounging as well as private quiet pools.
One important aspect of this resort is that it does not have elevators. So although there are only two stories to each building, guests have to use the stairs. However, the rooms have all been recently renovated and are beautiful! They have faux wood floors, double sliding barn-style doors to separate bathroom and bedroom, and an enclosed shower/toilet separate from double sinks, mirror, ironing board, and hanger space. The room my family stayed in had two queen beds and a 5th sleeper pull-out bed. The room also had a table with two chairs and the room felt spacious!
*TIP: Guests who have rooms located on a corner will have two large corner windows making their rooms feel even larger than those with one single window!
Dining at the Caribbean Beach Resort is currently limited to Mobile Order quick service only at Centertown Market and Banana Cabana. Centertown Market offers Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner options from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM with pick up at Old Port Royal. Banana Cabana offers bar service and light snacks poolside from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The food was good and always quick. They package each meal in individual to-go boxes so you have the option to eat in the dining area or take your meal back to your room. The specialty coffees were delicious. I began each morning of my stay at Caribbean Beach with a hot latte!
Transportation for this resort is fantastic!
Each building has its own bus station. Guests never have to walk far to get on a bus. The resort also offers an Internal Shuttle for guests who want to get from one area of the resort building to another or to the main building without having to walk.
The biggest change to this resort is the addition of the Skyliner! The Skyliner Hub is at Caribbean Beach Resort. This allows direct access for Caribbean Beach Resort guests to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Art of Animation Resort, and Pop Century Resort. The Skyliner is fast and quiet. Currently, you only share a skyline gondola with your party. It typically runs 1 hour before and after park opening and closing. It’s important to note that depending on the time of year, it can get chilly up there later in the evening. The Skyliner has vents to circulate the air instead of an internal A/C system. So you may want to consider a light coat if you know you’ll be using the Skyliner for transportation to and from the parks on a chillier day/night!
