Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cast their last spell last weekend

This past weekend, people might not have noticed that a Magic Kingdom attraction/game was played for the last time. Without an official or loud announcement, the interactive card game, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom ended last Sunday. Next month would have marked their 9th anniversary so the question becomes why did this long-running game close so quietly.

So is Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom outdated? The answers seem to be yes.

As always, Disney will continue to try and move with technology to help in the entertainment of their guests. With the release of the Disney Play App in 2018 (which is now a part of My Disney Experience App), we can’t help but wonder if this means that the app will take over the interactive stations all over Magic Kingdom that used to be used for Sorcerers.

Currently, there are 20 stations that are called portals where guests played Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. They used the spell cards in their collection to battle Disney Villians. Depending on the cards in your possession help form the outcome of your battle. Personally, I hope to see these stations reused and not fade away. Let’s not forget the other interactive game at Epcot, Kim Possible’s World Showcase Scavenger Hunt. Another interactive game that has faded away.

If you’ve ever played Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom or seen other guests play, then you’ve seen these interactive stations come to life. It’s a great enhancement to the parks in my opinion. It gives another element of magic to the parks as you’re walking around and gives another element of entertainment as you’re walking to the next attraction.

It’s sad to see that this game is now gone from Magic Kingdom but I have my fingers crossed in hope that Disney won’t let the technology go to waste. I know I will keep checking my Disney Play App while at Magic Kingdom and hope that a new game will be there one day.
