Updates! Walt Disney World Openings, Closing, Refurbishments, & More (as of Sept 21, 2021)

Here’s our latest list of what’s open, what’s not open, what’s being refurbished, etc. at Walt Disney World Resort!

First off, the big news!

Disney announced yesterday that Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will remain closed while they refresh the Sports theme area. They will share a new reopening date for rooms in the Sports theme at a later time.

If you have a resort reservation for All-Star Sports, you should receive an email from Disney about it. They recommend you reach out to your travel agent (if booked through a travel agent) to modify your stay.

Disney is still saying that all Walt Disney World Resort hotels will be open by the end of 2021.

Next, the Refurbishments:

• Disney’s Old Key West lobby refurbishment begins June 28.
• From January 2022 through April 2022, the Samawati Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, Guests staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village may enjoy the Uzima Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
• Starting in April 2021, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will begin a refurbishment to reimagine Guest rooms. While some Main Tower rooms will be unavailable during the refurbishment, most resort areas and amenities will still be available for Guests to enjoy.
