March 13, 2016 – Marvel released another, and potentially final, trailer for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
This is the concluding movie in the Captain America trilogy that began with Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This installment brings back some of our favorite characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Chris Evans as Captain American and Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man. The rest of the Avengers team appears in the movie along with the additions of Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) and Crossbones (Frank Grillo). The big revelation (which I feel like we already knew was going to happen) was seeing the wall-crawler himself, Spiderman, played by Tom Holland at the end of the trailer.
After the city-leveling events of the last few Avengers / Captain America movies, this movie opens up with yet another international incident. In an interesting turn of events, it is Captain America who is fighting against the proposed oversight of The Avengers, while perennial bad-boy Tony Stark is in favor of it. This drives a wedge in the team that leads to an all out war between the two factions. If your Marvel heart doesn’t break each time you hear the “But he’s my friend / So was I” line from the first trailer, you will still enjoy going to see this movie. Personally, I can’t figure out which side I’m going to be cheering for…can’t we all just get along?
Don’t fear Chris Evans Captain America fans, we will see him reprise the role again in Avengers: Infinity War, set to release Part I in May 2018 and Part II in May 2019. Also, we saw a quick shot of War Machine lying in a field during the Super Bowl commercial, but we see a lot more of that scene in this trailer. Did War Machine get killed by Winter Soldier, or is that just fancy trailer editing?
