Lunch at Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Hello nerds! Writing a quick post about our experience at Sanaa at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge today.

Today, I took my hubby to Sanaa for his birthday. Sanaa is located at Animal Kingdom Lodge in their Kidani Village side. Let me tell you about the bread service! Bread service is what Sanaa is known for! When you order it, they bring out a few different types of naan bread (Paneer Paratha, Onion Kulcha, Spiced Naan, and Garlic Ginger Naan). This bread is accompanied by 8 different dipping sauces. These sauces range from sweet to very spicy. The sauces are Cucumber Raita, Tamarind Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Red Chile Sambal, Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeno-Lime Pickle, and Coriander Chutney.

We were just going to do the bread service and drinks. But when we got there and we looked at the menu we decided to have a full-on lunch. Big mistake!!!! We started off with the bread service and that is where we should have stopped. But oh no! We each had to order lunch in addition to the bread service. Ken had the Tandoori Shrimp. I had something called Kenya Coffee Barbecue Bunny Chow (which is basically bbq pulled pork with a root vegetable slaw served in a bread bowl). We could not eat the lunch when it was brought out because by that time the bread had expanded in our stomachs. We just could only eat a bite. But let me tell you WOW! Ken’s Tandoori Shrimp was good, but that Bunny Chow was amazing. This was just another case of our eyes being bigger than our stomachs! I had them sing happy birthday to Ken. He was a little embarrassed and promised reprisals, but I don’t embarrass that easy so bring it on.

It’s always a treat to go to Sanaa.

We were lucky enough to get a two-seater table right by the window so we had a perfect view of the wildlife. The service is always top-notch, not that we expect anything different from any of the restaurants on property. The ambiance of this restaurant is so relaxing that it is totally easy to just sit after dinner and have some of the wonderful African wine they offer. Here are some of the animals we caught a glimpse of while we had our meal.

Ken and I usually have a table service on Sunday’s.  We call it a date day.  While we love to try the new places in Walt Disney World, we like to go back to our favorites that we haven’t visited in a while.  This is one of those places.

What are your favorite go-to restaurants?
