The Great Philadelphia Comic-Con 2020 is Coming
What better way for a Nerd to spend a free weekend than to attend a Comic-Con. It might not be San Diego or NYC, but the Philadelphia Comic-Con promises to be just as entertaining. This year’s event is being held April 3-5 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. What is great about this location is it is outside of Philadelphia, the city. It is about 10 miles NW of Philly, right past Valley Forge. Hours: 4/3 1pm-9pm, 4/4 10am-8pm, 4/5 10am-5pm.
“The Great Philadelphia Comic Con! is dedicated to producing celebrations of comics and popular culture by providing unique access to talented artists and a family-friendly experience for fans. Our show motto “Get UR Geek On!” represents in part the recognition of the diverse and awesome nature of our fans and events where they can come express themselves – be they fans of comics, movies, tv, anime, gaming, cosplay or more.”
Panels
If you’ve never been to as Comic-con event, they usually give you the same awesome type of categories at each event. There is usually a vast convention room floor covered with all of these activities except for the panels. They usually have separate rooms off the floor. These panels provide information on anything from joining the 501st StormTroopers to how to draw a Marvel character to see your favorite actors and production staff on stage answering questions. Panel lists are not released for this event yet.
Meet and Greets
Another big part of the Comic-Con experience is Meet and Greets with your favorite actors, voice actors, writers, creators, and others. The list this year is impressive with Carl Weathers of Rocky and most recently Mandolorian fame. Other notables on the list of people available for autographs are; Michael Rooker(GOTG and Walking Dead) Sean Gunn and Chris Sullivan also from Guardians. There are a number of power rangers, Brian Cox from Xmen and Super Troopers, Jason Isaacs, Malfoy Sr., and a couple of Dr. Whos, Phil Lamarr, Julian Glover lead off the voice actors and there is so much more. Artists and Merch
As the name implies and some seem to forget, Comic-Con is about Comics. At this event, you get the ability to visit and talk to a lot of the best animators and illustrators on the market. The same goes for the writers of your favorite SF and Fantasy. And did I mention merchandise? The variety of vendors is crazy. From comic books to toys to collectibles to the right accessories for your Cos-Play costume, you will find it for sale.
And speaking of Cosplay, there is a big list of some of the regulars who will be at this event. When I say regulars, you’ve see them before…here is an example of Ana-Mia.
