What We Know So Far: 2020 Disney Vacations

With all the announcements concerning Disney parks, resorts, and Disney Cruise Line, we know it can be confusing. So we’re going to go over everything we know so far!

First, Walt Disney World and Disneyland is closed “until further notice.”

Guests who had a vacation booked to Walt Disney World and Disneyland but had to cancel it will have a second chance. In fact, they are being given a special offer. These offers are valid only for guests who had trips booked between March 16th – May 31st. Please keep in mind, these deals will need to be booked by May 31st.

  • Walt Disney World Vacation Package offer is valid for most nights between June 1st and September 30th. Packages include Disney resort stay, park admission, and Disney Dining Plan
  • Disneyland Vacation offer is for most nights between June 1st and December 31st.

If you are looking to book a NEW trip, the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort are not taking any new bookings for the months of April and May. New bookings for Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and Aulani Resort will be available for stays starting June 1, 2020.

Disney Cruise Line has suspended all new departures through April 28th. There is no news yet about any special offers for guests who had to cancel their cruises and want to rebook.

Adventures By Disney has decided to cancel most trips through the end of May. As of now, the 3-night Barcelona Escape (departing 5/20 and 5/27) and the 7-night Mediterranean Adventures by Disney Cruise Package (departing 5/23 and 5/30) are still available and probably will be as long as Disney Cruise Line is running by that time.

With all the changes going on lately with many people’s Disney vacations we know it’s hard to keep track. We will try our best to keep you up to date with what’s going on. We also recommend reaching out to your travel agent like the official travel agents of The Disney Nerds Podcast, Welcome Home Travel Co.

Walt Disney World Passholders were notified via email during the initial closure announcement that their Annual Pass would be extended through March 31st. We are waiting to hear if the extension would apply to the additional time the parks are closed.

Here’s what we’ve been told so far for Passholders:
  • All active Walt Disney World Annual Passes will be extended for the number of days the parks are closed.
  • Passes with renewal windows ending during the closure will also receive an extension of time to renew.
  • For Passholders participating in the Annual Pass Monthly Payment program, your monthly payments will continue as scheduled. Once your payments are completed, you will still have the extra days as provided above.

There have also been rumors that Passholders can take advantage of the free dining offer for Walt Disney World Vacation Packages. The way passholders can use this is they would still purchase park tickets and use that cost towards their renewal.

Again, we will try to keep you posted on any news we hear concerning the park closures and how that might affect your upcoming Disney vacations!
