Attractions and Entertainment Details for Phased Reopening of Walt Disney World Theme Parks

Disney Parks Blog announced today some details about attractions and entertainment for the phased reopening of Walt Disney World today.

With the past couple of days seeming to be about what’s not available, it’s good to hear about some things that will be. The only flaw in this announcement is that there didn’t seem to be enough details.

Attractions will be up and running but they do say not all of them will be. We’re also still waiting to hear how the line will work while we wait to ride our favorite attractions again. They did mention these popular attractions:

  •  Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Space Mountain
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Soarin’ Around the World
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Test Track
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
  • Avatar Flight of Passage

They also did say that Spaceship Earth would be open and that they are pausing the planned renovations for this attraction. We first heard about the renovations at the D23 Expo last year and not we’ll just have to wait and see if they’ll come to life.

As for performers and characters, we will see them in the parks. It was great to read that because Walt Disney World is just no the same without its performers and characters in my opinion. It looks like some of our favorite performers like Main Street Philharmonic at Magic Kingdom Park, plus the Mariachi Cobre and everyone’s favorite funky drumming crew the JAMMitors at EPCOT will be back. In fact, they mentioned before that there will be performers at American Gardens Theater at EPCOT so we know to expect to see JAMMitors and Mariachi Cobre there. We interested to learn where Main Street Philharmonic will perform in Magic Kingdom.

They did say that we will see our favorite characters in a different way though because of physical distancing. We’ve seen this already with the Stormtroopers who are patrolling the area at Disney Springs. I’m interested to see how they will incorporate the performers and characters into the parks now. Here how they describe it: “From special cavalcades down the Magic Kingdom Park parade route and friends sailing the waterways of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, to processions along the World Showcase promenade at EPCOT and motorcades on Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Hollywood Boulevard, each area will come to life throughout the day. You never know when a party of your pals may come by, so be prepared for plenty of surprises!”

It sounds like we never know where our favorite characters might show up in the parks! Disney Parks Blog even gives some great examples we can’t wait to see in person: “For example, after rocketing through space in Tomorrowland you might see that famous Space Ranger, Buzz Lightyear; or discover a captive Captain Jack Sparrow as you traverse the Castillo del Morro on your way to Pirates of the Caribbean. You could cross paths with Queen Anna and Elsa as they venture “into the unknown” on a journey around World Showcase at EPCOT or spy members of the Resistance hiding out from the First Order throughout Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.”

As always we will keep you informed with and all details and information we learn about the phased reopening of Walt Disney World and the other Disney parks! Stay tuned here for all the Disney news!
