Top 5 Reasons Why Disney Adults Are Better Than “Regular” Adults

A lot of myths surround Disney adults. We are labeled as immature, jobless/childless millennials’, and even uneducated social-media attention seekers. However, this could not be further from the truth. Disney adults are more than an Instagram photo of a Dole Whip, a YouTube vlog about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, or an Etsy account selling trendy Ears with matching facemasks for Dapper Day. Although all of these are incredibly amazing, the emotions behind the content are what makes them magical.

Here are 5 reasons why Disney adults are better than “regular” adults!

1. Childhood Memories

For many Disney adults, our love for Disney started at a young age. We grew up with Disney in our homes. Whether it was watching Disney movies or visiting Disney Parks. For some Disney adults, they only visited Disney once or twice in their childhood and it was so magical they spent their whole life dreaming of going back. But what people do not understand is that Disney adults are not reliving their childhood memories – they are re-creating new memories. Disney adults are not stuck in the past. We enjoyed every moment we shared with loved ones as children and as adults, we look forward to sharing those moments with our own families.

Not all Disney adults are childless millennials’. A lot of Disney adults are very close with their families and look for opportunities to create magic moments and emotions that their children will remember – just as they did when they were little.

2. Believe in the Magic

Disney adults believe in the magic. We do not walk into Disney Parks and Resorts and expect to be entertained. We open our eyes, our imaginations, and our hearts, and we are completely immersed in the magic the moment we board The Magical Express or drive through that Disney Enterance Archway. The Castle is Cinderella’s and she really does live there, their are definitely Jedi in Batuu, and Mickey Mouse is real – and yes, Mickey Mouse did single you out of the crowd during the parade and wave at just you.

Not all Disney adults were Disney fans as children. Many Disney adults became Disney fans as adults! It is the moment when the “regular” adult sees the magic and believes – that is when they make the transformation into a Disney adult. Magic moments can happen at any time and Disney adults know this, which is why Disney adults take time to truly soak in the Disney atmosphere.

When we’re brave enough to listen, and bold enough to pursue, that dream will lead us on a journey to discover who we’re meant to be. All we have to do is look inside our hearts and unlock the magic within.” Happily Ever After Fireworks Show

3. Escape Reality

It’s no secret that Disney is expensive. So it’s quite baffling that people think that Disney adults are uneducated or jobless. We have to support our love for Disney somehow, don’t we? Disney adults have jobs like any other adult. We are nurses, lawyers, police officers, personal trainers, business owners, real estate agents, etc. In fact, for many of us, our jobs are so demanding, require long hours, and can be so stressful that Disney offers an escape from the complications of our every day lives.

Have you ever noticed that Disney does not sell newspapers? And they don’t have televisions playing news channels in the mornings or evening? All the resort TV’s are preset to Disney park hours and Disney news. (Of course, you can watch regular television if you really wanted to, but who would want to do that?) Disney adults know how to “turn it all off” when they are in Disney World and just have fun, much like children do. When was the last time you were able to just forget everything in the world and just live in the moment, for an entire week, and nothing else mattered? Disney adults experience this feeling every time they step into that Disney “bubble.” Having an escape from reality, and the ability to truly unwind is a feeling that cannot be explained other than it’s our happy place.

4. The Walt Legacy

Walt left a legacy that truly cannot be replicated. Walt Disney entertainment appealed not only to children but to adults as well. However, it was his personal life that Disney adults strive to emulate and that is what sets Disney adults apart from others. Disney adults understand the importance of hard work and following their dreams. We believe in leadership, innovation, creativity, and encouragement. We believe in laughter and fun while still being productive. Disney adults believe in family and love. We believe that there is magic in True Love’s Kiss and we believe in happily ever after. Disney adults believe in encouragement, kindness, and positivity. Disney adults are not typically angry, mean people. We like to see the good in others, hope for the best, and we like to see others succeed. Disney adults see the Prince and Princess in everyone and treat everyone as such. This is how Walt Disney viewed the world, how he treated his guests. Walt’s legacy has spilled over into the hearts of so many Disney adults and it has created a community of loving adults.

Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.” Walt Disney

5. Disney Adult’s “Get It”

Disney adults know that a lot of people won’t get it. We know that people will always ask us, “Don’t you get tired of going to Disney?” Or, “Do you really listen to Disney music in your car?” And that’s ok. Disney adults have our own community of other Disney adults – and we can pick each other out in a crowd!

Disney adults always have a themed item on them at all times. Whether it’s an article of clothing, a piece of jewelry, the classic annual passholder magnet on our vehicle, hidden Mickey items around our homes, or even tattoos. Disney adults know when we see another Disney adult. And the bond is immediate. One Disney adult says, “Loving Disney gives you an identity. It means you are a person who believes in magic, happiness, and imagination.” This couldn’t be more true, and when you find this Disney identity in yourself and connect with others who get it, your world becomes a brighter place.

Too many people grow up. That’s the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don’t remember what it’s like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well, I won’t do that.” -Walt Disney
