Disney Nerds Room Review- Cars Suite at Art of Animation

One of the many great things about staying at Walt Disney World is their variety of room options. A great example of this is the family suites at Art of Animation! On my last trip, I had my first stay at Art of Animation. I’m happy to say it won’t be my last!

I was traveling with my mom and a friend of mine so I booked a family suite. The suite sleeps 6 adults so it was more than enough room for us. It’s a great option for those who need more than just a standard room.

Family Suites

The family suites have 1 Queen Bed, 1 Double-Size Table Bed, and 1 Double-Size Sleeper Sofa. The suite consists of 2 rooms but three spaces. There is a bedroom with the Queen Bed and attached bathroom. Then there is the living space which has the sleeper sofa and the dining space with the fold-down bed (just like the renovated rooms at Pop and All-Stars). So there are 3 beds which were perfect because my mom, my friend, and myself each had our own bed.

Bedroom

The bedroom with the queen bed was a raised bed so you could slide your luggage underneath and save space. There was a dresser under the TV and 2 nightstands on either side of the bed. As with all the renovated rooms, there were lots of plugs and USB ports which is almost a must-have now while traveling. The bedroom had an attached bathroom which had a shower stall and the sink/vanity area was not separated like they are in other value resort rooms.

Living & Dining Room Space

Then the living/dining spaces are open to each other with an attached bathroom. When you first walk into the suite, there is a dining room table that folds down to become a double bed. There are even 2 nightstands for the bed. I thought that was a nice touch because that way you can plug your phone by the bed like so many of us do. Then in the living space has a sofa that folds out to the second double bed. There is an end table by the couch and a coffee table. So you just slide the coffee table out of the way and you can convert the sofa into the bed.

Across from the sofa is a dresser under the TV which is mounted to the wall. Then beside the dresser is a luggage rack/hanging area which is similar to what you might find in a stand hotel room by the bathroom. It’s space to hang clothes, coats, etc and a place to put luggage if you need to. The whole suite did lack a closet so this is the only area to hang anything.

Beside the sofa in the living space was a small kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, small sink, and storage. This was a perfect fit for us to store any food, snacks, drinks, etc we brought with us. The extra sink came in handy too. I always bring a reusable water bottle to the parks and usually have to wash it out in the bathroom sink. It was nice to do that in this kitchenette. We also brought some microwaveable things this trip since we knew there was a microwave in our room. This helped save some money on food in the parks!

Bathroom

The bathroom for the living/dining space is more like the bathrooms we’re used to in value resorts. The sink/vanity area is open the rest of the room but there is a pocket door to close it off if you need to. There is only one sink in the sink/vanity area but with 2 other sinks (one in the kitchenette and one in the other bathroom), I don’t think a double sink is needed. The shower/tub area has a door to close if you need it too as we’re all familiar with in other value resorts.

Different Themes

Now the biggest thing at Art of Animation is the theming. This resort celebrates animation and more specifically 4 great Disney Animated films, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. The Little Mermaid section is home to the standard rooms with 2 double beds or 1 king bed. The family suites are then in all the other sections. You can usually pay a bit more to select which themed family suite you want or just pay for a family suite and the resort chooses for you. Just keep in mind that the family suite layouts are all the same, the only difference is the theme/decoration.

Cars Suite

I ended up staying in a Cars Family suite and loved the theming! The little Cars touches were great in our suite. The whole room felt like something out of the Radiator Springs and had a great retro feeling. Our lights were made of safety cones and the sofa looked like a long car seat from a 50s car. The furniture was either light wood or red with metal accents to look like something you’d see in a car garage. The light wood furniture was decals and postcards from Radiator Springs on top of them which I thought were great details. When I first saw the postcards, I had to touch them because I didn’t realize there was a part of the furniture!

My favorite theming though was the bathrooms. The bathrooms were themed like car washes! The lights around the bathroom mirrors were designed to look like care wash signs and the sinks say “Spiffy In A Jiffy.” The showers have bubbles over the tiles in the showers too. The second bathroom is the only one with a shower curtain since it’s a shower/tub combo and the shower curtain features the image of Lightning McQueen getting a shower from the fire truck in the Cars film.

I loved staying in the Cars suite at Art of Animation!

There was plenty of space for the three of us at my party so we didn’t feel like we were living on top of each other. Also, having two bathrooms is beyond helpful when it comes to getting ready for the day and getting ready for bed. The suites do cost more than a standard value resort room. Personally, I think it’s worth it if there are 3 or more adults traveling together. Also, I enjoyed the theming both inside our room and outside throughout the property. Walking out of my room to see my favorite Cars characters (which are great photo opps!) was so much fun. Now another recent perk is access to the Skyliner. It’s a breeze to just head over to the Skyliner station which sits on the bridge between Art of Animation and Pop Century and jump on the Skyliner!

Since I’ve now marked a stay at Art of Animation off my list, I’ve officially stayed at all the value resorts. I must admit that I’d list Art of Animation at the top of my list! Have you stayed at Art of Animation? What are your thoughts?
