RunDisney Virtual Series celebrates “The Lion King” this summer!
Attention all Disney Nerds who love RunDisney!
A new Virtual race has been announced!
For the last 6 years, RunDisney has offered a virtual 5k race series for runners over the summer month. Today, they announced this summer’s theme. It is THE LION KING!
You are able to complete these races between April 8th– August 31st this year. You can complete them all in any way you want. If you want to get your miles in at the gym, on a treadmill, outside around your neighborhood, or anywhere else you want. You can also choose to complete the races all at once, one per month, or however you want to do it. It’s the perk of completing a race virtually.
There are 3 races you can do virtually for a medal and if you choose to register for all three and do the virtual challenge, you will receive an additional 4th medal.
Each medal for this series celebrates something different from The Lion King.
The first race and medal celebrate the animated classic film from 1994. The medal features a smiling Simba from the “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” scene.
The second race and medal celebrated the very popular and award-winning Broadway production of The Lion King. The medal features the Simba headpiece from the Broadway show.
The third race and medal celebrate the live-action remake of The Lion King in 2019. This medal features Rafiki holding up Simba just like the scene in the film.
Lastly, if you register for the challenge, you will receive the challenge medal which has the iconic Simba drawing with red baobab across his head.
All four of these medals have amazing themes!
In addition to the medals, when you register and complete the races you will receive downloadable race bibs and finisher certificates for each race, an at-home kit that includes a start line, finish line, and mile markers as well as and a virtual keepsake. This is a great feature if you collect your race bibs from any race you do!
Registration is Thursday, April 8 at 10 am EST.
We recommend jumping online to RunDisney.com as soon as registration opens if you want to register for the races before they sell out. Even the virtual summer races have sold out in the past.
