The Hollywood Brown Derby Review
Have you ever wanted to dine at the famous Brown Derby in Tinseltown during the Golden Age of Hollywood? You’re in luck because Hollywood Studios offers a replica – The Hollywood Brown Derby. Located on the corner of Sunset Blvd and Hollywood Blvd, this Signature dining experience serves up lunch, dinner, and a lounge.
I mentioned lounge and you should definitely come thirsty. The drink menu is plentiful in both the lounge and dinning area. Additionally, each entree comes with a wine recommendation which I highly recommend. If wine isn’t your fancy, don’t fret because they also have plenty of beer, spirits, and even non-alcoholic options. We went for the margarita flight which is a great bang for your buck. For $15 each or $17 for the flight, you can try the classic, blood orange, and pomegranate. The classic is just as it sounds, Jose Cuervo Traditional Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, Lime, and Sweet and Sour topped with a Grand Mariner Float. The blood orange also starts with Jose Cuervo Traditional Reposado Tequila and then adds in Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, X-Fusion Liqueur, and Sweet and Sour mix. The Pomegranate is the same mix as the blood orange but instead of the Orange Liqueur, your bartender adds Stirrings Pomegranate Liqueur.
Drinks are also served with fresh, crusty rolls and salted butter.
All appetites and pallets will enjoy The Hollywood Brown Derby. There are a wide variety of entrees offered, from their Famous Cobb Salad to Filet Mignon with Roast Beef Hash. We opted to try the Wild Mushroom Risotto and The Brown Derby Signature Burger. The risotto was served with a mix of exotic mushrooms atop a butternut squash puree. Atop were fresh greens spritzed with a light vinaigrette. I really enjoyed this meatless option. It was hardy but still light for the Florida heat. My only complaint is that I didn’t order the recommend wine. Although the margaritas were delicious, they were sweet and didn’t pair well with the tangy and harvest flavors of the risotto.
The Brown Derby Signature Burger is a hefty burger. Served with bacon jam, cheddar, fried egg, and Russian dressing, you won’t leave hungry. The egg was perfectly cooked and the bacon jam was sweet and salty. The burger is also served with a side of fries and pickles which were crunchy and spiced well. The dish was great paired with an IPA.
